Insurance Defense
Skedsvold and White, LLC has considerable expertise and experience in defending insureds and self-insureds before all federal and Georgia courts. All of our partners have come from insurance defense backgrounds where we have defended thousands of cases on behalf of corporations, small businesses and individual insureds. Workers Compensation Defense
Skedsvold & White, LLC has represented Employer/Insurers throughout the state before the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation. Throughout our history, Skedsvold & White has maintained an active and diverse workers’ compensation practice. We handle all aspects of workers compensation claims including initial “all issues” claims for benefits, change in condition claims, death claims and catastrophic claims. Our clients consist not only of many nationally known insurance carriers but also self-insured employers and non-insured companies. As part of our workers' compensation practice, we have advised our clients regarding the impact of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Family Medical Leave Act on workers’ compensation claims. Premises Liability
As one of its core practice areas, Skedsvold & White, LLC handles large numbers of premises liability claims. We are well versed and extensively experienced in defending against premises liability claims arising out of slip and falls, static conditions, third-party criminal activity, inadequate security, false arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, structural defect, improper inspection and maintenance, improper construction and design, adulterated foods and similar cases.
In addition to being retained to represent clients once a complaint has been filed and/or after litigation has already commenced, our clients frequently request our services regarding means of minimizing exposure for premises liability claims. Such services include, but are not limited to, the implementation of appropriate inspection procedures, witness identification, record keeping, evidence preservation and claims handling procedures. We are also actively involved in presenting seminars to clients regarding various aspects of premises liability claims in an effort to keep them abreast of changes in law. Products Liability
At Skedsvold & White, our attorneys have broad experience in handling products liability cases before both Federal and Georgia trial and appellate courts. We are well versed in Georgia law concerning products liability cases including claims based on strict liability, contract/warranty and negligence causes of action. We have litigated and prevailed in many complex cases involving allegations of design and/or manufacturing defects. Our attorneys have represented clients in sprinkler/fire suppression system failure cases, automobile part defect claims and cases involving high tension electric transmission line insulators. Frequently these claims involve death or grievous bodily injury. At Skedsvold & White, LLC, we have often been successful in prevailing on products liability claims at the summary judgment level.
In addition to insuring that we are current on recent developments in product liability law, we make a point of understanding the underlying factual complexities of the case including a full understanding of the product at issue, it operation and use in the market. Insurance

We have also been involved in handling insurance coverage disputes through application of declaratoy judgment actions.
In addition, our attorneys have been involved in defending insurance bad faith claims and have been frequently consulted regarding means and methods of avoiding exposure from potential bad faith claims. Insurance Coverage
In addition to its insurance defense practice, Skedsvold & White, LLC is actively engaged in representing insurers and corporate clients with respect to insurance coverage and extra-contractual claims. We are coverage counsel for many of our insurance company clients with respect to all lines of coverage including Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, First Party Insurance and Third Party Insurance coverage lines.
As part of our coverage practice, we at Skedsvold & White, LLC address a variety of issues, including stacking of coverage and priority of payment in uninsured motorist claims, reservation of rights, preservation of policy defenses, apportionment of claims involving multiple first-party property coverage, set-offs, application of an insurer's duties to pay claims and provide a defense and the effect of policy conditions and exclusions.
In addition to providing coverage opinions to our clients, we also consult with our clients regarding the language contained within their policies, apprise our clients of developments in statutory and case law and keep them up to date on insurance regulation changes. We have also handled many declaratory judgment actions and have successfully defended clients against bad faith claims. Insurance Bad Faith
Attorneys at Skedsvold & White, LLC have successfully defended bad faith claims against insurance carriers.
